Studying

Just finished studying and realized that even if I`m studying a whole book twice or three times in a short time like one or two days only my way of thinking is still "too" German. I mean I know how to convert a sentence into Japanese or how it should be build, where I have to place which particle and so on. But my brain works still on German, so sometimes I forget about Japanese grammar and just put it one to one into Japanese, what isn`t very productive.

Well, I have to keep on studying, because I think I have a big lack of vocabulary. Well not always, standard conversations and basic stuff is very fluently, but sometimes I forget words I`m using a few times a day and I`m always looking them up again a few times a day.

Maybe I`m just kind of stressed and exhausted , because of this home stay and the bus trips, which aren`t very comfortable for me as I can`t sleep in the bus.

Another very difficulty in studying Japanese are the Kanjis (well, most foreign people have big problems or at least problems with studying them.) I can read most of the Kanji or at least know what their meaning is even in some different combinations. I also can type them on cellphone or PC keyboard, but to write them with a pen a piece of paper is very difficult for me. I`m writing them all day, well if I`m at home, but because I don`t use them that often in their "paper-written" way I`m fast at forgetting them. If I start typing a word on a keyboard I`m remembering the Kanji when it appears together with some different I don`t want to use.

Well, I really have to keep on studying Kanji, and have to find a way to use them more often in a "paper-written" way , which should be a bit more productive than just write them on a piece of paper and then throw it away...

One Response so far.

  1. I understand how you feel when you are studying. When I am studying foreign language (in my case English) I notice my mind is in Japanese. Mind control is quite difficult to keep, I agree.
